Michelle Moar, BA (Hons), BSW, MSW, RCSW, is a Registered Clinical Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Work. Michelle is a ACSW Clinical Supervisor and a Certified EMDR Therapist. She has over 20 years of experience working with adults, children and adolescents with a wide range of concerns including stress, anger, depression, anxiety, trauma and addictions. Michelle believes in helping people to overcome their challenges by helping them to find their strengths.
Michelle has an extensive list of skills and
training including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Gottman Couples Counselling. Michelle has considerable experience and training in helping people to overcome the effects of traumatic experiences. Michelle has a special interest in working with children, adolescents and couples. Michelle believes that people are the experts in their own lives; they are resourceful, competent and always have strengths. An EMDR Certified Therapist has engaged in at least 20 hours of consultation with an EMDR Consultant for EMDR and has practiced their skills with at least 25 different clients in at least 50 EMDR sessions. An EMDR Certified Therapist has voluntarily met standards of consultation, clinical practice, and continuing education to provide EMDR therapy. An EMDR Certified Therapist is committed to fulfill ethical standards and is engaged in continuing education. To maintain this certification, a therapist must continue to satisfy the EMDRIA requirement including completion of continuing education requirements and adherence to ethical standards.
